Yay! A finished quilt!

I am so happy that I finally finished my first quilt in Maryland :) There was a huge holdup because I had to take a break after my sewing machine gave out toward the end of the summer. Luckily, i have inherited two sewing machines from family members, so I had a backup machine to use when the first died. My mom was able to mail my grandma's old Viking from Ohio. Because my mom went through all of the trouble to pack and ship a sewing machine, I gave her my first quilt as a thank you gift.

I found the pattern of Crazy Mom Quilts blog. Amanda Jean has the most amazing tutorials, and this one seemed pretty easy. Here is the link to the pattern on her amazing blog. I must stop for a minute here and say a huge thanks to Amanda Jean for her blog! It was the first quilting blog that I started to read and I have read everyone of her entries. She is an amazing and talented woman and everyone that reads her blog is very luckily to learn from her quilting wisdom. If you are a beginner quilter, I strongly recommend starting with some of the simple and clear patterns she has available for FREE! Thank you Amanda Jean!!!!!

So, without further ado, here is my first quilt....

Please do not judge me based on the not-so-great fabric choices. (This will have to be the topic of another entry to come). Overall, I am pretty happy with the way this one turned out. I did not have to do any patchwork, did not have to make sure that squares were strait, and I even did ragged binding on the sides so I did not have to fuss with learning to hand sew binding.
