Block Making

One of my quilt guild friends asked for help in creating blocks for a quick-turnaround quilt she is making a friend who recently received a poor medical diagnosis. Cathy asked that people help her by creating 12.5" blocks in greys/blues/blacks for a manly quilt. I created these two blocks yesterday and sent them to her so she can put a large quilt together.

The first block is from Elizabeth Dackson of Don't Call Me Betsy. This block is called Patchwork Wheel, and a link can be found on her blog.

The second block comes from Jeni Baker at In Color Order. This was the December block for her Block of the Month project.

Both of these blocks were very easy to put together and consisted of mostly half square triangles. These were very rewarding blocks - because they were being created for a great cause, but also because of the speedy process. I will definitely be making these blocks again in the future!

  1. Very handsome pair of blocks and I like the blues with browns in that last picture as well.

    1. They really are! Cathy recently told me about a great HST marking ruler that she purchased at Capitol Quilts. I really want to try it!
